It's a pretty cheesy, new age-y claim, but, in all honesty, I think its especially true with the songs compiled for The Report. Many of them are one-off exclusives, live jams intended to be nothing but live jams, demos, or outtakes once deemed unworthy for release. The entire genus of this publication was to give a home to specific works that didn't necessarily have a place to dwell. Hopefully this tape effectively gives these songs shelter, and a place to rest their weary heads."

This volume's tape compilation has selections from Dolphins into the Future, Ducktails, Buffalo Moon, Dent May's alter ego Dent Sweat, Big Troubles, The Twerps, Airbird, La Big Vic and more.

The DVD showcases features videos by the likes of Megazord, Laurel Halo, and an excerpt from Amy Ruhl's How Mata Hari Lost Her Head & Found Her Body, which features a score by Julian Lynch. Plus lots of other off the wall video work.

As one chapter closes, another opens. And so with Pitchfork.TV now airing the DVD companion to The Report for One Week Only, it's time to look to the future. The next issue of The Report is currently fermenting somewhere North of McGuinness BLVD. In addition, a few editions (roughly 20, give or take) will be available for purchase as of early next week, at which point Volume 1 will cease to exist. "Komiche Traveling with Vampires," featured on the Report compilation and Raw Thrills Dead Set, hits like a rocket shot into your nasal cavity, only to burn up and fizzle out as it reaches the outer layer of Earth's atmosphere. It exists in a parallel universe where the China Club is inhabitated by junk'd out terrordome fashionistas, ala Escape from New York (or LA), and rocket cars are the most popular mode of transportation. But they ain't nice rocket cars. They suck, actually. In the post-WW7 world, the most advanced technology is rusted over and coroded, fucked up beyond recognition, but still somehow viable. From the Church show last December. This track, and many more (from the Church, as well as the ever-increasing Chocolate Bobka archive) will be available on The Report DVD, which is sort of like the videos we post online, but super-high, barely compressed quality that's sure to look lovely on your television. This is a project we have been working hard on for the past few months, and we couldn't be more excited to send it out into the world. So excited that we made this epic trailer to wet your taste buds:

The Report, if you don't already know, is a 100+ page bi-annual journal, compilation and DVD package, containing the weirdest, wisest musings on culture, art and music. It's been a few months since the silly thought of starting a bi-annual cultural compendium crept into the forefront of my brain. I was going out to dinner and was sorta pissed the tavern ran out of Fish & Chips. (Bummer.) Since then, my half baked idea evolved into the Report, a home for warped ideas germinating in the caves of our contributors craniums for god knows how long. In many respects, the Report is a home for stuff that doesn't have a home, a quasi orphanage for random thoughts, mind collages, one-off jams and nights that need remembering.

The Report started a Kickstarter project to help bring our ideas to life. In a shockingly short period of time the Report raised its goal of $1000. Shit, y'all were so supportive we exceeded our goal. In all honesty, its remarkable. Scott the Intern and I are working our asses off in the Bobka/Report HQ in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and we hope to have the Report packaged and ready to go in early February. Don't want to give too much away, because surprises are always nice, but I will disclose that the Report is a music, culture and art journal bundled with a DVD of live concert footage shot by Ray Concepcion and C. Axel Poekel (Chocolate Bobka's chief videographer) and a cassette compilation featuring new songs (and LOTS of exclusives) from Real Estate, Pure Ecstasy, Twin Sister, Mountain Man, Sharon Van Etten, Alex Bleeker, Holiday Shores and many, many more. The Report will be lovingly packaged for each individual order. This means no inventory, as we will only print as many as ordered. No more, no less, no excess. Pre-orders will be available in the next week or so, however, you can pre-order the Report by contributing to the Kickstarter project, which has lots of cool incentives, like, uh, the shirt off my back. Seriously. Really psyched for everyone to see what we've got cooking.
